FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What instruments do you teach?
I'm a singer, first and foremost, so vocal lessons are my bread and butter. I have solid proficiencies with keys, bass guitar, and ukulele; I wouldn't consider myself a "professional" of those instruments, however. If you're interested in keys, bass, or ukulele and don't mind learning alongside me at points, I'd be happy to teach you what I know! Otherwise, I'd recommend looking for a different instructor--no harm, no foul!
What can you teach me?
It depends on what you'd like to learn! I can teach everything from the basics of reading music to writing original songs; from building up the courage to sing at karaoke night to making sure you land that big audition! We can always adjust the curriculum based on your goals, so talk with me and we can work something out!
Can you teach ME?
I recommend that students be at least eight years old before considering private lessons; younger students may find it difficult to remain attentive for extended periods. However, there may be exceptions to this rule, and I am willing to discuss it! But if you're at least eight years old, I can definitely teach you!I do everything I can to help you on your musical journey, no matter how fast or slow that journey may be--everyone learns at their own pace and in their own way. I have experience teaching individuals of all ages, ranging from three to seventy-three years old. Additionally, I have worked with individuals who are neurodivergent or on the autism spectrum, honing my skills in teaching diverse learners. If you're willing and ready to learn, I can and will teach you how to enjoy and express yourself through music!
What can I expect from a typical lesson?
We'll always start our lessons with a quick warmup, and then we'll take a few minutes to focus on sightreading or a specific technique. Most of the lesson will focus on learning through the repertoire we will build as a team. The songs will be catered to your range and specific goals to ensure you'll get the most out of our time together! You will also receive an email recapping our lesson; I'll attach any learning material we used so you can access all the practice tools needed to help you reach your goals!
What technology and instruments do I need for a lesson?
You will receive a Zoom meeting invitation via email 24 hours before your scheduled lesson time. Please wear headphones during our lessons and try to set up in a quiet environment. Log into our Zoom meetings on a computer, if possible; tablets and phones are acceptable, but not preferred. If you have a condenser or handheld microphone, you're welcome to use it; otherwise, your computer or device's built-in microphone should be OK. If you have an electric guitar, plug it directly into your computer's audio interface or use an amplifier to ensure the instrument is heard. This won't be an issue if you have an acoustic instrument or one with built-in speakers. In Zoom's sound settings, make sure the "Original Sound for Musicians" setting is turned ON.
OK, but how much does it cost?
